The
Homestay Option
Living
with a Mexican family offers you an opportunity to practice your new
language skills daily—and we recommend it. Each of our families
offers a shared room and bath. You can also get a private room for
a small additional fee. Accommodations
include, at a minimum, a bed, nightstand, desk or other suitable study/work
space, chair, lamp, and window. The homestay option also includes
delicious meals, daily transportation to and from the
Institute, and airport or bus station pickup when you arrive. Personal
laundry service is not included.
Note: Transportation to and from the airport is included when
your stay is at least 2 weeks or more. If less, there is a fee
of $50.00 U.S. round-trip. We look for families
who wish to provide more than just room and board—families
that are interested in your well-being and appreciate the opportunity
for a real cultural exchange. We take this responsibility seriously:
all our families are pre-screened and we also provide them with
continuous feedback from student evaluations. Moreover, if, for
any reason, you are not happy with your family placement, the Institute
will make every effort to find one to your liking.
Beyond its obvious
benefits to you in practicing your newly acquired Spanish in a real-life
situation, the homestay option is also the most economical housing
option, especially for longer stays (see prices under Our
Program). However, should you decide that a homestay is not
for you, there are other options.
Hotels/Motels
Guanajuato
offers hotel and motel
accommodations in a range of prices. We will be happy to reserve
lodging for you (see registration form).
Simply include the cost of one night's lodging with your deposit.

Furnished
Apartments
There
are four furnished apartments on the grounds of the Institute
which are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis.
Here
is some information about our apartments.
"La
Chimenea" has one big bedroom with a king-size bed or 2
single beds, kitchen, living room with
fireplace and one bathroom. It is all furnished and equipped and
nicely decorated. You are provided clean sheets and towels at the
beginning but you must do the laundry for those. It does not include
meals nor laundry.
"El
Viejo" has three bedrooms, kitchen, living room and two
bathrooms. It is all furnished and equipped and nicely decorated.
You are provided clean sheets and towels at the beginning but you
must do the laundry for those. It does not include meals nor laundry.
"EL
Alacran" has two bedrooms, kitchen, living room, two
bathrooms and a laundry room. It is all furnished and equipped and nicely decorated.
You are provided clean sheets and towels at the beginning but you
must do the laundry for those. It does not include meals nor laundry.
"Los
Sombreros" has two rooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, a laundry
room and a combined dining and living-room. Electricity, water,
and gas are included but your drinking water is not. The price for
4 gallons cost about 2.00 US.
During
winter we can put a gas heater in each apartment for an additional
(approx.) $10.00 U.S. per week.
Prices
Prices
are in US dollars. These prices are for the low season. They increase
in the high season by 15%. The high season is from 1 June to 15
August. If you made a reservation with a deposit before October
5th, 2006, the price will be the one stablished at the moment of the
reservation.
