There is the possibility to perform volunteer work at nearby villages. Many activities that can be performed, including teaching English to kids or adults, working in a shop to learn a trade like welding, etc.
Obviously there is no extra cost to perform the volunteer work. The Instituto will graciously make arrangements with the village to organize the volunteer work but does not provide transportation to the village or support material for the volunteer activities.
